  • 01.02.2007
Skiing, skating and spending more time with family – many Polish parliamentarians announced their plans for the ongoing winter break. The lower house of the Polish Parliament, Sejm, is not meeting for another session until mid-February hence MPs have two weeks off. Most of politicians are using this opportunity to leave the capital for a few days while others are forced to make last minute changes to their plans. Speaking to PAP news agency deputy chief of the parliamentary club of the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) Tadeusz Cymański revealed he is going to take a week off and plans to spend it ‘catching up with his family and friends’. Deputy head of the opposition Civic Platform (PO), Bronislaw Komorowski is among those who had to change their plans last minute forced by political events to stay in Warsaw. However, he expressed hope for a weekend skiing trip. Leader of the ex-communist Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) Janusz Olejniczak is spending a week with his family in Slovakia. Meanwhile deputy head of the Polish Peasants’ Party (PSL) Jan Bury is among those who are not fans of winter sports – he will leave only for a weekend trip with wife and daughter.
