Andrzej Lepper, said on Polish Radio 1 this morning that he thinks that PM’s letter to coalition members is preparation for ridding the government of the League of Polish Families (LPR) and Self Defence. PM Jarosław Kaczyński sent a letter to Roman Giertych (LPR) and Andrzeja Leppera (Self Defence) defining co-operation conditions to be met by both parties to stay in the coalition. The ex vice premier and agriculture minister, Lepper, is of the opinion that the PM is preparing himself for a minority government and an early election, should circumstances allow. Lepper said on the radio that he thought Jarosław Kaczyński wanted to strip LPR and Self Defence of their programs and exactly follow PiS’s agenda instead.
Andrzej Lepper criticised the form and timing of PM’s communication with coalition allies. He denied PM the courage to sit with heads of LPR and Self Defence at the table to discuss the future of Poland.
Andrzej Lepper said that Jarosław Kaczyński’s communication with his allies resembled his past communication with Donald Tusk - via the media and letters. He added that in his view, the aim was to suggest to the public opinion that LPR and Self Defence were to blame for a prospective collapse of the coalition.
Lepper also informed that the PM’s letter would be replied to before the first Parliament session, explaining that PMs are on holiday and ‘should not be interrupted’.
Lepper ensured that party leadership would meet before the first parliamentary session to discuss a reply to Jarosław Kaczyński’s letter. (mj) (photo-js)
