The parliamentary club of Self Defence has been reduced by two MPs after Mirosław Krajewski and Waldemar Nowakowski resigned from the party.Krzysztof Sikora, head of Self Defence’s parliamentary club, said that the MPs did not give any reasons for their withdrawal from the club. They only informed the speaker of the parliament that they had left.
According to Sikora, their explanation is not necessary, as in his opinion, the MPs in question were only interested in their MP status. “It didn’t matter to them which party list they were elected from", he said.
The MPs will team up with the group of independent parliamentarians. Krzysztof Sikora is convinced that they will vote the same as the ruling Law and Justice (PiS).
The head of Self Defence parliamentary club does not rule out a scenario whereby the two rebel MPs join the parliamentary club of PiS.
Krzysztof Sikora is not aware of any other MPs who would intend to leave Self Defence, yet he revealed that their MPs were constantly tempted by other parliamentary clubs to join them.
Waldemar Nowakowski, one of the defectors was appointed by Self Defence as a member of the parliamentary commission investigating privatisation of the banking sector in Poland, but Krzysztof Sikora said it was likely that Self Defence would withdraw that recommendation.
