• Borowski: threats of early election part of coalition politics
  • 26.07.2007
Marek Borowski, the SdPL leader, said on “Sygnały Dnia”, Polish Radio 1, this morning, that in his opinion, the recent threats of earlier elections are just more political struggles in the coalition.

He explained that for him it is obvious that none of the coalition parties wants an earlier election, but they only want to win something from the others.

Marek Borowski foresees that the crisis in the government of PiS – Self-Defense – LPR will end in a, as he called it, “rotten deal”. He thinks that there is a solution to the disputed issue of convening the investigative commission on the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s operation in the ministry of agriculture, which is demanded by Self-Defense, after the dismissal of its leader, Andrzej Lepper from the coalition and resulted in the latest government crisis. The SdPL leader thinks that the Sejm speaker will not introduce this issue into the agenda of the Sejm session yet, because, according to the law, he has half a year to do that. Then ‘everything will be left as it is – there will be no commission and the Self-Defense’s motion will be waiting for consideration, said the leftist, opposition politician.
