The League of the Polish Families (LPR) says it wants a reconstruction of the governing coalition but without Jarosław Kaczyński as prime minister.Vice-president of LPR Wojciech Wierzejski confirmed that during the session of the party’s management talks at the weekend, the matter of who could replace Jarosław Kaczyński was discussed. . However, “These are confidential matters and the decision is up to Law and Justice. But not every candidate will be accepted by the League,” Wierzejski said.
Vice-president of Law and Justice (PiS) Adam Lipiński announced that changing the PM is out of the question. In an interview for the Polish Radio Information Agency Lipiński said that it is up to PiS to decide who the Prime Minister is and that they are not taking into consideration Kaczyński leaving the government.
According to Lipiński, the coalition’s existence is to be decided on within a week and a half. Vice-president Lipiński added that his party is not afraid of an early elections.
The proposition to change the Prime Minister is supported by the other junior coalition partner, the Self-defence party. Its vice-president Janusz Maksymiuk said that his party is ready to negotiate with PiS.
According to Maksymiuk, the discussion about a change of PM is a realistic one but Self-defence isn’t going to dictate to PiS who is to become the new head of the government.
