Bronisław Komorowski (Civic Platform - PO) told Polish Radio 1 on Thursday morning that his party would do its best to be able to present the new government the day after Jarosław Kaczyński’s cabinet steps down (5 November), but refused to comment on the press speculations about particular appointments. He only revealed that Radosław Sikorski (former defence minister in the former cabinet) would be part of the new government – though he did not specify in which role - and Władysław Bartoszewski (former foreign minister in two previous governments) would become PM’s foreign policy advisor.
When asked about the rumoured liquidation of the Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) – which critics of the Kaczynski government claimed had been used in a politicised role, Komorowski said the CBA could be replaced by a special financial investigative unit having a broader scope of responsibilities and co-operating with the tax office.
