• Justice minister wants to become deputy speaker of parliament
  • 25.10.2007
The current justice minister, Zbigniew Ziobro, is Law and Justice’s (PiS) main candidate for the position of deputy speaker in the new Polish parliament, the Sejm.

His key competitors for the job within PiS include Przemysław Gosiewski (currently member of PiS cabinet), Senator Krzysztof Putra and current culture minister Kazimierz Ujazdowski.

The Rzeczpospolita daily reveals, however, that Ujazdowski’s chances for the position of speaker of the house are the slimmest as he represents the most rebellious conservative faction within Jarosław Kaczyński’s political party.

According to the newspaper, Law and Justice politicians are convinced that neither the current speaker of the house, Ludwik Dorn, nor their leader Jarosław Kaczyński will vie for the position of deputy speaker of the Sejm.
