• New LPR leader abolishes All-Polish Youth movement
  • 26.10.2007
The All-Polish Youth is to cease to exist because it has discredited itself, said Sylwester Chruszcz who a few days ago took over the leadership of the ultra conservative League of Polish Families (LPR) after the party’s former leader Roman Giertych’s decided step aside.

One of the first decisions of Sylwester Chruszcz was to dissolve the organisation, revived by Giertych in 1989 and a large number of LPR politicians and previous term MPs of the party derived form this organisation.

Chruszcz explained that after the dissolution of the All-Polish Youth movement a new, apolitical organisation will be summoned, however, he did not reveal the name of the new formation.

“It will educate its members and prepare them for future functions – political, social and journalistic,” Chruszcz said.

Chruszcz assured that LPR will from now on be free from vulgar extremism.

But he said that his party is against – as he put it – Europe “prepared for Poland by Ms Merkel”.

He said that LPR supports ‘the Europe of homelands’ and is against accepting the EU constitutional treaty; it will protect the national currency and the national interest.

In the past the All-Polish Youth movement was accused of propagating fascism, anti-Semitism and homophobia.
