  • 28.10.2007
Two flagship examples of differences between future coalition partners after general elections last week: the Polish Peasants Party (PSL) and the Civic Platform (PO), are taxes and reform of social insurance for farmers, perspective Interior Minister Grzegorz Schetyna of PO reveals details of the coalition negotiations.

“We talk about simplified and flat taxes as well as reform of KRUS [the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund],” Schetyna said.

Schetyna assured, however, that the differences between the parties do not mean that the negotiations will to come to a deadlock. “One should discuss difficult issues from the very beginning,” believes the MP, who added that the “simplified and flat tax” does not necessarily mean linear tax.

The prospective future head of the Interior Ministry believes that the co-operation with the Peasants Party will be as fruitful as the one on the local level so far.

When asked when the final coalition agreement is to be reached Schetyna said that PO and PSL will make it before the first session of the Parliament. (photo: sejm.gov.pl)
