• Pawlak to take Ministry of Economy in new government
  • 30.10.2007
Polish Peasants Party (PSL) leader Waldemar Pawlak is to take over the ministry of economy and become the Deputy PM in the future government formed after general elections in Poland. In total PSL is to get three ministries: of economy, agriculture and environment, announced leader of the winning Civic Platform (PO) and future PM Donald Tusk after a meeting of the national board of PO on Tuesday.

However, the new government’s shape is still rather vague: Donald Tusk refuses to speak about particular names. He repeated that he expects a move from the President Lech Kaczyński, that is designating him as a Prime Minister.

“Within 24 hours after receiving a nomination I will be ready to present a definite structure of the future government,” Tusk said.

It is already known that the junior coalition partner PSL is to take three miniseries: of agriculture, economy and environment or labour.

According to Tusk, Waldemar Pawlak is to become “a constructor of social dialogue” and the government will “operate on the basis of the rules of partner co-operation”.
