Donald Tusk, candidate for future Prime Minister after general elections in Poland, visited the British Isles this weekend to thank Polish expats for their participation in the ballot.During a meeting is the city hall in the traditionally Polish London district of Ealing Tusk thanked Polish migrants for their support in the elections on October 21.
In 23 electoral commissions in Britain as many as 60-76 percent of the electorate voted for Tusk’s party, the Civic Platform (PO).
“Your votes are the biggest present I have ever got from anyone,” he said. “For the rest of my life I will keep in my mind the image of you queuing long hours to the polling stations,” he added.
During the meeting the future PM promised abolition of overdue taxes and a possibility to vote via the Internet in the future.
At a banquet in the Polish embassy in London Donald Tusk met with representatives of the “old” emigration – people who left Poland after WWII – among others with Irena Andersowa and Ryszard Kaczorowski.
The Civic Platform leader also watched a football match between Arsenal and Manchester United.
