A new poll by TNS OBOP shows Poles are expecting conflict between Donald Tusk’s new Cabinet and the Presidential Palace. Published in the Dziennik daily, the results show that Poles mainly expect the new parliament to strip MPs of their immunity (79 per cent) and pass a new law on the controversial Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) – which many believe has been used politically against opponents of the previous Kaczynski government, handing over control of it to the parliament (74 per cent).
64 per cent of respondents want a parliamentary investigation into CBA’s intervention at the ministry of agriculture (money for land sandal involving Andrzej Lepper of Self Defence) and 53 per cent want an investigation of the death of Barbara Blida (following CBA’s intervention).
38 per cent of Poles predict deep conflicts between President Lech Kaczyński and Premier Donald Tusk and in the opinion of 53 per cent the conflicts are inevitable, but they will not be intense.
Only 6 per cent believe that the co-operation between President and PM will be harmonious.
73 per cent want the president to appoint Tusk as premiere immediately and 22 per cent believe the decision should not be rushed.
54 per cent expect that Tusk will make a good PM, 16 per cent are of the contrary opinion and 30 per cent have no opinion on the subject.
The opinion poll was conducted on 3 November.
