• Andrzej Celiński (LiD) on plans to abolish licence fee
  • 27.11.2007

Andrzej Celiński (Left and Democrats - LiD) told Polish Radio 1 on Tuesday morning that the proposal to abolish the licence without suggesting alternative sources of financing for Polish public radio and TV was irresponsible.

The LiD MP has thus commented on the Civic Platform’s announcements on the abolishment of TV and radio licence.

Andrzej Celiński also commented on the results of the opinion poll showing waning support for LiD (only 4 per cent).

The Left and Democrats’ PM admitted that his political party was in danger of disappearing from the political scene if it failed to propose a strong alternative to the neo-liberal postulates of PO.

In Celiński’s assessment, the strengthening of LiD’s position would take about a year and added that it was too early to speculate if the formation of LiD was a success.
