Poland’s Prime Minister wants anti-corruption minister Julia Pitera to take over the Central Anti-corruption Bureau (CBA) and intends to meet with the present head of CBA Mariusz Kamiński at the beginning of January.
“I would like Julia Pitera to become a head of CBA,” PM Donald Tusk told “Super Express” daily. “Everyone who knows Julia Pitera knows that she is literally allergic to every case of corruption,” he added.
On Tuesday evening Julia Pitera informed that she handed in to the PM a report on CBA activities. She said that “at least in three points” there is a basis to turn to the public prosecutors to conduct further investigations.
Tusk said that here is no sensational news in the report. He pointed out that according to him, “the main sin” of the CBA was political engagement, visible in the last electoral campaign. “I will look for such solutions that would ensure CBA dealing with corruption fighting only,” he added.
The PM announced that he wants to meet with head of CBA Mariusz Kamiński at the beginning of January. When asked if this will the last meeting with Kamiński as the CBA head, Tusk said that this will depend on Kamiński himself.
“I am not a blood thirsty person but I would like to co-operate with a such CBA head of whom I would be sure that they are determined to fight corruption and not political opponents,” he stressed. (jm)
