• Misztal comes back to Poland?
  • 07.01.2008

Former Self-Defence MP Piotr Misztal, for whom an international arrest warrant has recently been issued by the Public Prosecutors from Katowice, announced that he will return to Poland on January 26, as planned.

The PM also said that he decided to change his place of arrival from Warsaw to Krakow, to spare the voters the expense of the police escorting him all the way from the capital, as he will now land closer to the Prosecutor’s Office.

Misztal is suspected of VAT fraud, to the detriment of the State Treasury for the sum of at least 2mln zloty. But the MP denies the charges and says that he is not afraid of any prosecutors.

Misztal has already failed to show up twice when he was summoned by the Prosecutor’s Office. He has a double citizenship – Polish and American – and has been staying in the US for the past few weeks, allegedly to take care of his ailing mother. (mo)
