The Political Council of the Law and Justice party (PiS) has announced new vice-presidents of the party at an assembly in Warsaw.

Aleksandra Natalli-Świat, Zbigniew Ziobro and Marek Kuchciński were promoted, with the new secretary general of the party nominated to Jarosław Zieliński.

Press spokesman of PiS, Mariusz Kamiński, has said that the exact number of votes are not to be disclosed. Kamiński did say, however, that all candidates received similar amounts of votes cast.

The three new vice-presidents join Adam Lipiński in fulfilling the party’s function. Zbigniew Ziobro, the former justice minister, said that PiS must modernise itself to create a  “modern and just Poland”, and aims to gain more attention from young voters, a group which the party failed to attract in sufficient numbers in last October’s general election..

The meeting also decided upon new members of the Political Committee. Wojciech Szarama, Jacek Kurski, Krzysztof Tchórzewski and Paweł Kowal are its new members. Deputy members were also chosen. (jb)
