PM Donald Tusk says he wants to decentralize power in Poland.
Amongst other reforms, the prime minister wants municipal elections for the members of local governments of all rank to be conducted in single-seat constituencies.
The PM also emphasized his government’s desire to decentralize power.
“The aim of decentralization is to raise the standards of service for the citizen. A local government is able to cater for the needs of the public better than the central government,” said Tusk.
Another major change that the PM wants to introduce by the end of this year is freeing Polish citizens from the obligation of registering their residence, which creates another layer of red tape.
The PM described the change as “vital, revolutionary, in a sense, and expected by the citizens”
The PM promised that the changes would be enacted as soon as possible, but did not announce when the work would start. (mo) (photo: Jakub Szymczuk)
