Strikes and protests taking place in Poland within last several months are failing to harm the ruling Civic Platform (PO) party’s standing with supporters.
The newest poll by Pentor reveals that within last three weeks the party has won back 3 percent support it lost last month.
Fifty three percent of respondents said that they would support the Civic Platform if a general election was to be called. This is an increase by 3 percent in comparison to the previous poll in January.
The opposition Law and Justice is supported by 26 percent of the voters (a decrease by 3 percent).
Eight percent of the respondents opted for the Left Democrats alliance, and 6 percent for the junior coalition partner the Polish Peasants’ Party.
Former government members Self-defence and the League of the Polish Families would find themselves outside the Parliament (supported by only 2 percent each).
The poll was conducted for the “Wprost” weekly on January 29-31. (jm)
