Former deputy health minister, Law and Justice (PiS) MP Bolesław Piecha predicts that in March, the current Polish government will run into serious problems regarding contracts for health services.
The MP said on Polish Radio 1 Thursday morning that in March, the majority of hospitals would start contracting out health services and draw up agreements.
In Bolesław Piecha’s opinion, the government would then face a problem that could not be put off any longer.
The former deputy called the so-called “White Summit” on the state of the Polish health service, held by the ruling PO-PSL coalition in January, full of “guesswork” and said it was merely one of many PR exercises conducted to delay decision-making.
The politician told the radio that his party was against restructuring public hospitals into commercial companies. He stressed that hospitals’ assets should be reviewed and the future of their employees carefully considered first.
Piecha said that privatisation of hospitals would not guarantee better management of hospitals and that positive changes, if any, would only take effect many years later. (mj)
