• Government dreaming, says Kaczynski
  • 25.02.2008

Jaroslaw Kaczynski, former prime minister, wryly remarked on PM Donald Tusk’s evaluation of his first 100 days in power: "Everyone is allowed to have dreams,” adding that beautiful dreams sometimes spawn beautiful things.

The former PM, deposed in last October’s general election, criticised the present cabinet for ‘lack of solidarity’ with Poland's poorest regions. Kaczynski claimed that EU funds earmarked for the development of the country's less developed regions in the east are going to the richest regions, where the majority of the governing Civic Platform (PO) supporters live.

Kaczynski also criticized the way in which the present cabinet is handling foreign policy, pointing out to ‘too many concessions’ made by the Polish side in dealings with Russia and the EU.

Kaczynski asked Donald Tusk to name at least one issue that was successfully settled with Poland's foreign partners.
