Head of the National Security Agency, Wladyslaw Stasiak, has said that President Lech Kaczynski will not follow into the footsteps of Prime Minister Tusk and fly abroad on scheduled flights.
In an interview for the RMF FM Radio, Stasiak said that the President, like the presidents of most European countries, will use government aircraft, as it is cheaper and easier for everyone.
According to him, the fact that PM Tusk went on his recent visit to the United States on a scheduled flight was not a sign of shoddiness, as one Law and Justice MP put it, but a bad move, from various reasons, such as safety and prestige.
Before landing in New York, Tusk’s plane received what turned out to be a hoax bomb threat, but which delayed arrival at JFK airport by forty minutes.
Stasiak added that the argument about saving thousands of zloty by going on a scheduled flight is not very convincing. He also said that it is painful for him that Polish services negotiated for three months so that the Prime Minister would not have to take his shoes off during security procedures when he was checking in for the flight. "I think that Polish officials could do other things than negotiate about shoes," he added. (mo)
