• Further split on Polish left?
  • 19.04.2008

The members of the Social Democracy of Poland (SdPl), during a party convention on Saturday, are to decide whether they want to stay in the Left and Democrats coalition with the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) and the Labour Union (UP).

According to SdPl leader, Marek Borowski, most members are of the opinion that the cooperation with SLD has to end. However, he added that there is no way of predicting the outcome of the convention.

Two weeks ago, SLD decided to end the cooperation with the Democratic Party (PD) within the Left and Democrats coalition of leftist parties. The members of SdPl were not informed about the decision beforehand. (mo)
