The Polish Lower House, the Sejm rejected yesterday the vote of no confidence against Finance Minister Jacek Rostowski.

The vote was preceded by a parliamentary debate on the financial policy of the current government.

"I was convinced we would win the debate. [...] It showed how much Donald Tusk’s government has been doing for the economy in a stable, well-planned”, said the Finance Minister as reported by Dziennik daily.

Minister Rostowski accused the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) of political cynicism and ignorance.

"We must disarm the budget bomb planted by Jaroslaw Kaczynski’s government”, said Rostowski.

PiS filed a motion for a no-confidence vote against the Finance Minister, because he refused on Monday to lower excise duty on fuels. (mj)
