  • 12.08.2008

Prime Minister Donald Tusk said today that he received optimistic news about the negotiations. According to him, Poland should make progress in the talks on the deployment of elements of the US anti-missile shield this week. The PM again stressed that Poland's safety is top priority.

On President Lech Kaczynski's peace mission to Georgia, together with the Presidents of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Ukraine, the PM said that it is important to him that Poland is not seen as wanting to worsen the tense atmosphere between the European Union and Russia.

He said that Poland has to take active part in European diplomacy and that the country should be involved in solving the Russian-Georgian conflict and ensuring Georgia's territorial integrity.
