Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk paid a few-hours visit to Sweden on Wednesday and met with his opposite number Fredrik Reinfeldt.
The politicians discussed the situation in the Caucasus and agreed that the EU must send strong support to Georgian interests and its full territorial integrity.
Donald Tusk stressed after his meeting with Fredrik Reinfeldt that in view of the Caucasian crisis the Polish-Swedish project of the so-called Eastern Partnership – with the EU seeking closer ties with eastern European states such as Ukraine and Belarus - turns out to be very long-sighted as it allows for a peaceful solving of tensions occurring east of the EU’s borders.
The prime ministers talked also about the on-going preparations for the adoption of the common EU Baltic Sea Strategy, which is to strengthen regional trade and co-operation in the field of nature protection.
At the end of the visit PM Tusk met with the representatives of the Polish expats in Sweden. (jm)
