According to press reports, head of the Law and Justice parliamentary caucus, Przemyslaw Gosiewski, will tender his resignation today.
Gosiewski has refused to comment on the rumours, published on the Dziennik daily’s web site. MP Jolanta Szczypińska has dismissed the rumours as idle gossip.
The Dziennik daily, however, claims that Gosiewski is stepping down from his post to spend more time with his family.
Lined up to replace Gosiewski, who has been in the postion since, are are said to be Marek Kuchciński, Joachim Brudziński, Krzysztof Jurgiel or even current chairman of Law and Justice, former prime minister Jarolsaw Kaczynski. .
Gosiewski was elected the Sejm, the lower house of the Polish parliament, in 2001 and was appointed vice=rime minister in the Law and Justice government in May 2007 till the party lost the election last October. (pg)
