The opposition Law and Justice party says that the job cuts at the Prime Minister’s Chancellery are politically motivated.
As of next year there will be only 665 officials, instead of the current 707 at the PM’s office, a move included in the draft of the next year’s budget bill. The officials are currently receiving redundancy notices.
“The reductions concern all organizational units of the Chancellery. The next year’s budget demands a decrease of employment by 5.9 percent,” said Grzegorz Szymanski of the Government Information Centre.
But according to Mariusz Blaszczak, the Law and Justice MP and former head of the PM Chancellery under former PM Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the main criterion deciding who is to be dismissed was the date of starting the job at the Chancellery.
“The first to receive notice were those who were employed within the two years of Law and Justice rule,” said Blaszczak.
The head of the Government Information Centre categorically denied these accusations.
“Among the people to be dismissed are some with eight years’ work experience and some who worked for three months only,” he claims. (jm)
