Komorowski maintains lead in poll

22.05.2010

If presidential elections were held on Sunday Bronislaw Komorowski (right) would receive 43.3 percent of the vote nationwide, finds a new poll by the Homo Homini polling company for Polish Radio.

Acting president Komorowski’s vote share rose 1.1 percentage points compared to a similar poll taken a week ago. In second place Jaroslaw Kaczynski is on 36.2 percent, up 0.3 percent.

The Democratic Left Alliance candidate Grzegorz Napieralski is far back on 5.8 percent, (PSL) Waldemar Pawlak is on 4.8 percent, with 1.3 percent going to Marek Jurek. Independent candidate Andrzej Olechowski is on 1.1 percent, Janusz Korwin-Mikke on 1 percent and Andrzej Lepper is also on 1 percent.

Other candidates failed to score significant respondents to be counted.

Five and a half percent of respondents answered that they do not know as yet who to give their vote to.

The survey also shows that if presidential elections were held on Sunday, the turnout would be 66.2 percent.

The first round of the presidential elections in Poland are scheduled to take place on June 20. (pg)
