• Kaczynski - ‘modernity and tradition’
  • 05.06.2010

Jaroslaw Kaczynski has outlined the main themes of his election campaign, wanting faster economic development, a good position for Poland in Europe and a “combination of modernity and tradition”.

The former prime minister’s policy agenda will be elaborated next week when he will publish a full programme on his election campaign web site.

For now, Kaczynski, in campaign TV spots and addresses, stresses the need for an active role for the state, especially when it comes to removing obstacles facing entrepreneurs. "We need a more friendly legal and tax system to ensure investment and the creation of new jobs. We must eliminate [red tape] in public offices and the courts. We need to develop and modernize the network of roads and highways, railways and airports," Kaczynski says.

Kaczynski also wants equal support for farmers in all parts of the EU under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), and the state must support the family and "create a more friendly climate for parenthood." (pg)
