• Napieralski hands out red apples to metal workers
  • 15.06.2010

Grzegorz Napieralski, the leftist presidential hopeful continued his campaign trail by going to Krakow’s Nowa Huta district at 5.30am, Tuesday, to hand out apples to workers.

The apples, handed out in red bags bearing “Grzegorz Napieralski for president”, were given to workers going to the ArcelorMittal steel plant’s morning shift, as well as those finishing work at 6am.

Some workers happily accepted the apples, while some, looking on in disbelief, outrightly refused: “no chance,” one man said.

“I took an apple, but I won’t vote for this candidate,” said another worker, with another admitting that this form of campaigning was better, as “other candidates don’t hand out apples.”

“I wanted to talk with the workers,” the Democratic Left Alliance presidential hopeful told the press, contuining that “what I wanted to do above all was to give than an apple for a better day.” (jb)
