Authorities of the central city of Lodz are trying to lure foreign investors with 26,000 euros worth of …tea and biscuits.

The city hall ordered 76 kinds of sweets, including biscuits and Jaffa cakes, and 23 blends of tea and coffee worth over 100,000 zloty (26,000 euro) to treat foreigners who are interested in investing in Poland.

“We ordered 13 different blends of tea and 10 of coffee for 64,500 zloty (16,500 euro),” admits Marcin Maslowski from the Lodz city hall.

Maslowski argues that the city hall needs a wide variety of sweets and tea and coffee because it receives guests from many institutions, including ambassadors, government officials and foreign investors whose taste may differ.

Last year, Lodz authorities spent 140,000 zloty (36,000 zloty) on grocery products. (mg)
