• Poles choose Spain and Turkey over Egypt
  • 07.02.2011

An increasing number of Poles have decided to spend their holiday in Spain or Turkey after mass protests hit tourist industries in Tunisia and Egypt.

“The statistics for January show that Turkey and Spain are increasingly popular. Egypt still comes first but it may change if anti-government protests continue,” Andrzej Glapiak from EasyGo travel service told money.pl.

Poles are vchoosing Spain and Turkey because of high quality offered in exchange for low prices.

Spain introduced a 55+ programme which attracted Polish pensioners. It was a good idea because people in their fifties generate one third of all tourism in Europe.” says Andrzej Glapiak.

In January 2010, over 8.5 percent of Poles who bought a holiday on the internet chose Turkey and 7 percent Spain, a report by EasyGo shows. As many as 56 percent decided to spend holiday in Egypt and 11 percent in Tunisia.

In January 2011, the number of Poles who planned to relax on Egyptian beaches dropped to 37.5 percent and in Tunisia to 3.4 percent while the number of those who preferred Turkey increased to 16.3 percent and Spain to 12.7 percent. (mg)
