According to key voices within Poland'
Business turning its back on government?
s business community, Donald Tusk's Civic Platform-led coalition government is failing to honour a raft of promises about constructive reforms.

Marek Goliszewski, president of the Business Centre Club, says there's still time to make amends, but that his patience is fast running out:

“There was supposed to be a linear tax - there isn't; there was supposed to be a further reduction of the tax wedge – there isn't; there was supposed to be a reduced bureaucracy - there isn't; it was supposed to be a hospitable state – it isn't; there were supposed to be fewer concessions – there aren't; there was supposed to be a reform of KRUS (Agricultural Social Insurance Fund) – there is not even a perspective on this; and there was supposed to be a completion of the process of privatisation,” Goliszewski told TVP public television.

Goliszewski added that business is “pragmatic”, and that governments are judged by businessmen on their authentic achievements.

Consequently, whilst he “likes and respects” Donald Tusk, at present he feels inclined to have more confidence in the Left-wing programme of former PM Leszek Miller.

The statement that Poland’s top entrepreneurs maybe turning away from what is meant to be a “business friendly” government will concern Civic Platform, with opinion polls showing a drop in support for the party.

General elections are scheduled in Poland for this autumn. (nh/pg)
