Poland exports four times as much bread as it does vodka, media reports, with sales of baked products reaching 516 million euro in 2010.

According to estimates from the Economy Ministry, growth in exports of bread, pastries, tarts and cakes rose by 9 percent during 2010 year on year.

Polish bread products are mainly exported to Germany, the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Holland and to Scandinavian countries, the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna reports.

Meanwhile, export sales of vodka and other alcoholic drinks up to 80 percent ABV (160 proof), of which Poland is the largest producer in the EU, amounted to just 121 million euro. (jb)
