Shazza - Disco Polo queen

Fans of the cheesy Disco Polo music genre, which has experienced a resurgence of popularity recently after its mid-1990s heyday, are dancing for joy at the news that the music is being granted its very own TV channel.

Polo TV is being rustled up by the team at Lemon Records, with broadcast programming prepared in cooperation with the entertainment section of the Super Express tabloid.

“For three years we've been selling CDs in Super Express of the most popular Polish music,” says Malgorzata Golinska of Lemon Records.

“Throughout that time, we've sold almost 3 million discs, which convinced us of the great demand for this type of music. What's more, up until now, there has been no separate radio or TV channel which propagates such music. That's how the idea came about to start Polo TV.”

If all goes according to plan, the new channel will be blasting out of TV sets as early as this Spring. (nh/pg)
