• Poland ‘high profile’ at Berlin travel fair
  • 07.03.2011

The head of the Polish Tourist Organisation Rafal Szmytke says Poland will be very highly visible among the 180 countries taking part in the ITB travel industry fair in Berlin this week.

“Poland is a partner country and co-host of the fair. Our national stand will be presenting all regions of Poland, which is a very attractive country and we have proof of this in the numbers of tourists visiting this country,” Szmytke has told Polish Radio.

Poland aims to raise its profile at the fair as a country preparing to take over the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union and hosting the Euro 2012 UEFA European soccer championships in 2012, together with Ukraine.

“We want to show Poland as a country of youthful vigor and creativity - a country with a diverse range of tourist services, with something for the young and old, for singles and couples as well as for those who appreciate luxury,” said Rafal Szmytke.

Poland’s slogan at the fair will be “Move Your Imagination.”

The highlight of the opening evening on 8 March will be a multimedia show telling the history of Poland , co-designed by Tomasz Bagiński, a young Oscar-nominated Polish film director.

The ITB fair in Berlin is one of the world’s renowned travel industry events and will be held between 8-13 March. (ab)
