LOT Polish Airlines has announced that the first delivery of the long-awaited Boeing 787 Dreamliners will arrive in thirteen months.

The statement comes as LOT was officially informed of the new delivery dates by Boeing, which declared that the first unit will arrive in Warsaw in April 2012, with a further four due for delivery between August and November the same year.

“Such official information from Boeing is incredibly important,” LOT spokesman Marcin Pirog told journalists, adding that because of the announcement LOT “can plan its routes for the coming years.”

LOT has long planned a strategy for opening routes to Asia. The first units to fly in the LOT livery were due in 2011, but contuining delays have meant new destinations have had to been put on hold.

The Polish national carrier is awaiting a total of eight new Boeing 787s, which are to be divided up into three classes: business, ‘economy plus’ and economy, and capable of carrying between 210 and 330 passangers. (jb)
