• Euro 2012: new railway station for Poznan
  • 25.03.2011
Construction has yet to start, but Hungarian investor TriGranit announced yesterday that Poznan would have a new railway station in time for next year's Euro 2012 showdown.

"We are building a new railway station by April 2012 so that Poznan can proudly receive guests during the Euro 2012 tournament," said Arpad Torok of TriGranit.

The station will be part of a 640 million zloty investment called the Integrated Communication Centre Poznan, consisting of office space, a shopping mall, car parks and a hotel.

TriGranit's investment follows on from several other major projects in Poland, including shopping malls in Krakow and Katowice.

The initial Poznan agreement was signed with Polish Rail last June, and demolition is currently afoot, preparing the site.

The entire project is due for completion in 2013. (nh)
