• Failed tax crackdown on online trading?
  • 06.04.2011
A new report from the Ministry of Finance shows that even though last year tax authorities increased their activity in checking that online sales were properly taxed, the effects have been minimal.

Last year, 10,000 tax checks were undertaken which found tax evasions worth 2.1 billion zloty (525 million euro), a drop in 300 million zloty on 2009 despite a 40 percent rise in online activity by tax offices, which screened some 2,662 transactions in 2010.

One of the priorities of the Ministry of Finance in 2010 was the chasing down of online tax evasion. The Ministry itself has shrugged off the results, stating that “the black market has shrunk.” (jb)
