• Newspapers continue to lose readers
  • 06.04.2011

Almost all Polish newspapers continued to record a loss of readers in March, reads a report by the Association of Press distributors.

The only exception bucking the trend was the financial daily Parkiet Gazeta Gieldy.

The tabloid Fakt remains the most read daily in Poland though its sales dropped by 6.5 percent as compared to data from February 2010.

The Gazeta Wyborcza daily is second but with a 7.2 percent drop in March followed by the Super Express tabloid, which only lost 2.6 percent of its readership.

The main reason for the decrease in sales is a price hike of the majority of dailies and the internet becoming the main source of news for many Poles, say the Association of Press Distributors. (ab)
