Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced that talk of entering the European common currency should take place around 2014-2015.
In a live webchat on one of Poland’s major portals, Tusk said that “if the Eurozone survives, which looks likely, Poland will become a member.”
“This is because Poland has signed all the relevant treaties [towards euro entry],” Tusk stated, adding that “[Poland] must first fulfil the Maastricht criteria.”
“We will be able to talk about Poland’s entry to the euro in around 2014-2015, but today no-one […] can predict a precise date,” the prime minister concluded. (jb)
