  • 24.03.2009

March 24th is World Tuberculosis Day. Statistics speak of over 9 million people annually getting infected with TB, one and a half million of whom die as a result.

Figures in Poland show the rate of infected to be double the average in most EU countries. Medical experts warn not to disregard protracted fever, chronic coughing or chest pains as these could be the first symptoms of tuberculosis. Every year the disease is diagnosed among 9 thousand Poles with men twice as prone to TB infection than women.
