Several dozen people, including Byelorussians living in Warsaw and students of Warsaw universities took part in a happening in Poland’s capital commemorating the Belarusian  Independence Day. Held under the slogan “Hear Belarus” it was organized by the Free Belarus Initiative to mark the Belarusian Independence Day, which the Minsk authorities banned a few years ago.

The anniversary was preceded by an annual concert called „Solidarity with Belarus” at Warsaw Castle Square on Sunday. During the event the Belarus bands and artists as well as the musicians from Poland played the new arrangements of well known compositions in both Polish and Belorussian languages.

“Solidarity with Belarus” is a series of events under the slogan “Hear Belarus!” including movie screenings, thematic concerts, happenings and debates.
