400 additional soldiers are to be sent to Afghanistan in April and May as part of the increase of the contingent there announced by the Ministry of Defense. There are currently 1,600 Polish soldiers stationed in the Ghazni province in Afghanistan.  Poland’s current mission in the country costs about 35.8 million zloty. Minister of Defense Bogdan Klich said he expects that the situation in the coming months will worsen in the region, anticipating the presidential elections scheduled for August. The Ghazni province is considered one of the least stable regions in Afghanistan at present.
