President Lech Kaczyński is in the north-eastern town of Siedlce today.

After attending an annual military meeting in Warsaw this morning, the president met with academics from the Podlasie Academy and the church authorities from the local diocese.

Mr. Kaczyński also met with Izabella Galicka and Hanna Sygietyńska: the two women found a picture by El Greco in 1964, ‘The Ecstasy of St. Francis’, and the picture is the only work of art by the Cretan-born painter in Poland, housed at the Diocesan Museum in Siedlce.

Mr. Kaczyński will also award notables with the Order of Polonia Restituta. Later on in the evening he is to meet with local farmers and villagers from the area.
