Today marks the third death anniversary of Stanisław Lem, one of most acclaimed Polish authors in the world.

Considered the reviver of science-fiction novels, Stanisław Lem has broadened the spectrum of topics touched upon within the genre with the humanities, and reflections on the advancement of science and technology.

A vast part of his output involves publications on philosophy and futurology, centered on technology and the nature of intelligence. Whereas his novels covered themes such as difficulties in transmitting information and mutual understanding of intelligent beings and the locus of man in the universe.

His novels and short stories were translated into 40 languages in up to 28 million copies. His most renowned books include: The Man from Mars, The Astronauts, Solaris, and Tales of Pirx the Pilot.
