Polish driver Robert Kubica did not finish the Australian Grand Prix inaugurating the Formula One season.

Kubica, who drives for BMW Sauber, had an accident three laps before the finish line when his car collided with Sebastian Vettel’s. The German driver had problems with his tires. Kubica decided to risk passing him and that’s when Vettel started skidding, Marcin Biernacki – an F-1 expert told Polish Radio: ‘This led to direct contact tearing off part of Robert’s front spoiler. Two curves later, the rest of it got under his car. Robert swerved off the track and hit the sidewall.’

Fortunately, neither of the drivers sustained injury. The Australian Grand Prix was the triumph of Jenson Button from Brawn GP-Mercedes before Rubens Barrichello from the same team and Jarno Trulli of Toyota.
