• Easter Beethoven Festival opens

The 13th edition of the Easter Beethoven Festival launched in Warsaw on Sunday with a concert featuring German violin virtuoso Anne-Sophie Mutter.

The inaugural concert was attended by Polish First Lady Maria Kaczyńska, as well as Speaker of Parliament Bronisław Komorowski, Culture Minister Bogdan Zdrojewski, President of Warsaw Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz and German Ambassador Michael Gerdts.

The host of the evening was Festival Director General Elżbieta Penderecka, wife of composer Krzysztof Penderecki.

The Festival continues until April 10th.

Among the highlights are the first Polish concert of the Monte Carlo Philharmonic, with the visit of Caroline, Princess of Monaco to Warsaw.
