• Pioneer solution for crisis headaches

The social summit organized by the President’s Office has decided to work on a project to establish a so-called ‘Crisis Alleviation Package’.

The idea, tabled by representatives of the government, trade unions and employers as well as a number of distinguished experts, is to earmark funds for assisting individual households experiencing, for instance, problems with paying bills or loan installments. Every Polish family would receive a credit voucher for 50 thousand zloty – the equivalent of 11 thousand euro – for a period of five years which could be spent should any such need arise. Those who would not take advantage of the scheme would be entitled to a 7 percent dividend at the end of the 5 year period. Finance minister Jacek Wincent welcomed the idea. He voiced the opinion that individual families could best asses their needs and this would make the project void of any state interventionism. In people we trust, assured the minister and called the initiative a pioneer solution on an EU scale.
