“Blood is the Gift of Life – Share it” is the slogan of this year’s charity action calling people to give blood for children.

The events held in 42 cities across the country have been organized by over 2,000 members of motorcycle clubs. The action coincides with the opening of this year’s motorcycling season.

A diverse range of attractions will accompany the blood donation action such as contests, concerts performed by both children and popular artists, and motorcycle displays.

The initiative is supported by the police nationwide. Arkadiusz Kalita, chief constable of the provincial police headquarters in Lublin, southeastern Poland, has said that the donor label attached to motorcyclists may acquire a new meaning thanks to the action:

"Motorcyclists are commonly believed to be organ donors. Yet quite often when they die in road accidents their organs are of no use for any transplants, perhaps only the cornea. Last year, 262 motorcyclists died in road accidents. The blood donation action for children predominantly, and for motorcyclists injured in accidents is a very noble cause. I believe this is a great idea that should be promoted."
